Add a ray of sunshine to your breakfast with this immune boosting porridge powerhouse. Turmeric, ginger and orange marmalade give this warming bowl of porridge a deep golden colour and powerful antioxidants.
Immunity boosting golden marmalade porridge
40g rolled oats
45g of Streamline orange marmalade (thick cut or thin cut)
125ml Low fat milk or plant based milk
1 tsp of freshly crushed ginger
1/8th tsp turmeric powder
Pinch of ground pepper (you will not taste this, pepper is necessary to increase the probability of curcumin from turmeric to be absorbed to the bloodstream in order to get the full health benefits of the turmeric)
1/2 gala or 1/2 pink lady apple
In a non-stick pan, lightly toast the oats (toasting the oatmeal before cooking gives the cereal a nutty flavour) and set aside.
In a pan, add the chopped apples and cook them over medium heat for about 3 min. Add the toasted oats, fresh ginger, turmeric, pepper and water.
Cook the oats while stirring using a fork until oats are half cooked (this will take about 8 min)
Pour the milk, cover and turn the heat to low and let the oats cook completely.
Finally, add the marmalade and stir using a fork (using a fork will ensure air gets into the mixture and will give a fluffy texture to the porridge)
